So, who is the Cranky Arborist?
John Palmer is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, who previously owned a premium services landscaping company for 20 years.
After a decade nose to nose with Nature, he began his career as a Consulting Arborist. Soon after, using his training and experience learned during his 20 radio career, he began lecturing and training green industry professionals on the science, practice, and care of trees and plants.
He now trains Arborists, Foresters, Landscape Architects, Engineers, Landscape Professionals, Nursery Professionals, Architects, and others from all over the world, as well as consulting with Construction firms, municipalities, homeowners associations, and individual property owners in his hometown of Northeast Ohio.
His focus now is on issues of concern for trees and tree owners and managers, with a focus on understanding that the vast majority of tree problems originate below ground. An essential understanding of pedology (soils), hydrology (how water moves through soil), and compaction is crucial for proper planning of work around trees, diagnosing tree issues, developing plans for new tree planting, and ensuring long term tree health and survival.
Because trees don't care about our wants, needs, or technology. Trees need what trees need.
